Cosmic Crab Resort

The food at the restaurant was good, and everyone on staff was courteous and helpful. Junier at the bar was especially great. The owner welcomed us and pointed out things to do nearby. We had a great stay. Greetings from a guest from Puerto Rico! Room 1 & 2.

We waited about 15mn just to get a waiter's attention, then another 45mn for the food. My wife's fish arrived 10mn after mine, dry from being overcooked, and her fries were cold, probably left over from an earlier service. The two waiters seemed nice, but they were covering both the bar and restaurant. We came over from Bocas because the place looked nice, so this was a real disappointment. In our opinion, Cosmic Crab should be called Cosmic Crap. Avoid it.

Jesse was fantastic and went out of his way to make sure everyone was happy. Book your trips with him, not with the guys at the water taxi place. We stayed in huts right on the water, with small but comfortable beds, and the island was beautiful with plenty to explore. The food was great too. One small suggestion: a clothesline by the lawn chairs would be really useful.

Getting around was fairly easy and affordable: water taxis to Bocas Town cost $1 during the day and $2 at night, and they run 24 hours. But the property's phone service was unreliable, and the number they gave us was a landline that wasn't working during our 4 day stay. You'll need staff available to arrange a pickup, or you can get an operator's What’s app number on the way over. If you're up early, plan to taxi into Bocas Town for coffee, since it isn't available until after 8am. Get a taxi driver's number too, as staff aren't available then. The view from the property is outstanding and the location itself is fine. The lower location rating is because a nearby place plays extremely loud music until 3-4 a.m. every night. I needed noise-canceling headphones or earbuds to fall asleep. As with many island stays, expect occasional interruptions to internet, electricity, and phone service. In the room, there was mold in the shower, and we initially didn't have enough towels and bedding for the three guests listed on the reservation. We only got those after asking several times. The plumbing also made a loud, foghorn-like noise now and then, which disturbed our sleep. Many staff members were courteous and helpful, though a few interactions, including with the older gentleman we believed was the owner, were less positive. The drinks were excellent and the property had an enjoyable vibe. These service and room issues were the main reasons for my lower ratings in those categories.
