Hospedaje Yarisnori

This is a family-run place with generations behind it, and they made me feel cared for, almost like family. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, the air conditioning was great, and the ocean views were beautiful. I also loved the reasonably priced Caribbean food at the restaurant. The lobster was incredible. The beach was fantastic, with snorkeling right out front, plus kayaks, lounge chairs, dining tables, hammocks, and shaded cabanas with cushions, all complimentary. Starfish beach is about a 20-minute walk, or you can catch a water taxi there throughout the day. The bus stops right at their beach, and they can also arrange a shuttle from Puerto Viejo that includes a boat ride to the beach. If you want an authentic Caribbean experience, book here. You’ll be glad you did.

Our taxi driver recommended this restaurant, and lunch there was really good. It was easy to find vegan choices, and my boyfriend's salmon was very good too. A nice stop if you're planning to walk on to Starfish beach.

The staff were upbeat and welcoming, and the atmosphere was lovely. This side of the island is really peaceful.

The location is amazing, but the food and service were both terrible. My fish was tough and chewy, and the a la plancha version was dry. The creole sauce was bland and bad too. I ordered a mini bottle of sparkling rosé for $5.50. It looked unopened, but when I poured it, it was completely flat. It was probably ancient and had been stored in the heat. The waitress was rude and didn't care at all. We rushed to pay so we could catch the bus, then I noticed they'd charged me $9.10 for the bottle, even more than the menu price. I guess with a location like that, they just want to rip off tourists.
