Hotel Andros

The location was the hardest part for me. The area felt scary, almost like a warzone, and my driver advised me not to go outside the hotel. I wouldn't walk around there at night. Inside, it was very quiet during my stay, and I didn't hear other rooms or common areas disturbing me. I can't say that never happens, but it was peaceful for me. My room was spacious, comfortable, and very clean, the cleanest I experienced during my stay in Panama. The property is well maintained, with lovely woodwork and iron railings. Staff from the front desk to housekeeping and security were professional and helpful, though not especially friendly. The basics were good: effective air conditioning, free in-room WiFi, and secure parking with an armed guard. For the price, I felt it was very good value. I can't comment on the restaurant's food or service because it had closed by the time I arrived. It shuts quite early, around 5:00pm, so I ordered through Pedidos Ya on my phone instead. Breakfast wasn't included.

The building was clean, the room was large and well equipped, and the staff were friendly. Check-in and check-out were both pretty quick and easy. Colon looks neglected almost everywhere, whether that neglect is intentional or not. Hotel Andros was the one bright spot for us. I don't remember how we picked it, but I'm really glad we did. We don't plan to return to Colon, though if we did, we'd stay at HA again.

For the price, this was a good deal for me, and the people were very friendly. I stayed two weeks without any problems. The staff and the ladies who cleaned the rooms were nice, and the hotel was quiet. There's a guard at the entrance. The location isn't great, though it seemed better than some other hotels. The back street is the hotel entrance, while the front entrance is for the restaurant, so I'd use the back. There's one elevator for seven floors, which doesn't seem like a smart setup. Retired guests get a discount called JUBILADO. The room could use a few things: an English Bible, a do not disturb sign, a desk clock and a night light. The main light was too bright. The bathroom felt narrow, including around the toilet, and it was hard to move around. The shower curtain had mold at the bottom, as did the shower walls. Shower slippers would be a good idea.

The guard at the door helped me feel safe, but the hard beds and constant noise made sleeping difficult. I could hear everything from the hallway and next door, with people being loud in the middle of the night. As a light sleeper, I kept getting woken up. Checkout was at 1pm, but housekeeping came at 10am. I said I didn't need the room cleaned yet, and she insisted on taking my towels. I asked her to leave at least one so I could wash my hands, and she did. After I went out for food and to the store, I came back to find the room cleaned, bed made and trash taken out. I'd used the bed, trash can and towels again afterward, so I hope they cleaned it once more before the next guest.
