Hotel Piamonte

I stayed twice within ten days, once in the annex across the street and later in the main building. Both rooms were basic, bright, and clean, and the bathrooms were spotless. The air-conditioning worked very well. The shower had no hot water on either stay, though one side was noticeably warmer than the other. I was at the back of the building both times, away from street noise, and slept very well. The annex's little second-floor balcony faces the street. It's a nice spot to sit after dark, once the heat has eased.

For what you get, it felt a little expensive by Panama standards, though the place was okay. In the middle of the night, a strange woman walked into my room while I'd left the door unlocked. The next day, as I packed the car in blistering heat, a policeman stopped me and said I was breaking the law because I had my shirt off. Be careful smoking a cigarette in town too, since someone is likely to make an overly dramatic issue of it.

The bar 🍸 is decent. They run happy hour offers a couple of times during the week.

The food and service were excellent, and the prices were very good too.
