Decapolis Hotel Panama City

It's an older hotel, but the rooms are roomy and comfortable, with a fantastic city view for a great price. The hotel itself looks fantastic, and the rates are very reasonable. A nearby mall makes it easy to shop for essentials, and affordable Uber rides make exploring the city convenient and budget-friendly. They provide room service, cleaning, and many other amenities. Decapolis has a great included breakfast buffet, and the staff were friendly and professional. The hotel is older, but the location is perfect, with a bridge to cross to a large mall and another mall a short walk away. It's a good place for a large family or for people with children. The view reaches all the way to the ocean.

We come to Panama City often and keep returning here because the price and quality work well, breakfast is always included, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There's a good choice of apartments, with either a city view or a view on the other side, and we always feel welcome. The one thing to watch is the water temperature. In some apartments, particularly on higher floors, it's only warm rather than properly hot. The rooms also tend to be quite cold, so if you like hot baths, check the water when you arrive. We really enjoy staying here and highly recommend it.

The lobby looked a little dated but was nice. The rooms were big, though very outdated, with worn furniture, cracked tiles, and run-down bathrooms. We booked two junior suites for four days because family was coming to visit. When we tried to shower, a leaking faucet flooded the bathroom. The handyman came, but after the repair the faucet still leaked and there was no hot water. He returned the next morning, and hot water worked again when he left, but it was gone the following morning. The mini fridge leaked too, though that wasn't a big issue. The pool area is run down, and the hallways look old and dirty, with old carpet. The mall, which used to be nice, is now half empty. This place was once part of the Hard Rock and impressive in its day, but it needs a multi million dollar overhaul. At $135.- a night it's definitely not worth it, and the whole property starts to look like a cheap motel 6. Better to spend $20.- more for a good hotel. We're local here in Panama and definitely don't recommend staying here. In my opinion, it should stop operating and get a total remodel before reopening.
