Megapolis Hotel Panama

The hotel is beautiful, with a cultural feel, and it was clean, fresh, and well kept. Check-in was frustrating, though: I was overcharged and am still waiting for the money to be refunded. The breakfast was all cold, and the front desk could use more professionalism. As Panamá draws more tourists, it would be helpful to have someone who speaks proper English for visitors from places like the Bahamas, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados. I’m not asking anyone to change the culture, just to be mindful of guests from different countries. Big thanks to Ruben, the bartender, who was very nice and eager to help. All the bartenders and the server were super helpful and friendly, and the bellmen were helpful and very nice too. Because of those lovely staff members, we’re looking forward to coming back to Megapolis.

It’s a decent place in a lively part of downtown, close to lots of amenities, and I thought the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was included, and the restaurant prices were good too. Cleanliness could have been better. It wasn’t horrible, but that’s why I’m giving it four stars.

I stayed 11 days and couldn’t find a thing to complain about. The staff were superb, the rooms were good, and the gym was great. Breakfast was outstanding. We also found a laundry service at a reasonable price that picks up and delivers. I’ll definitely stay here next time and highly recommend it.

For $135 a night, this place isn’t worth it. We’re local in Panama and definitely wouldn’t recommend staying here. The hotel used to be part of Hard Rock and must have been impressive back then, but now it needs a multimillion-dollar overhaul. The mall used to be nice too, but it’s now about half empty. The pool area is run down, and the old carpet in the hallways looks dirty. The lobby was a little dated but nice, while the junior suites we booked for four days so family could visit were large and badly outdated. The furniture was beat up, the beds uncomfortable, the tiles cracked, and the bathrooms run down. One faucet leaked and flooded the bathroom when we showered. After we told the front desk, they sent a handyman. From then on it leaked and we had no hot water. He came back the next morning and got the hot water working, but it failed again the following morning. The mini fridge leaked too, though that wasn’t a big issue. In my opinion, they should stop operating the hotel and completely remodel it before reopening. It’s starting to look like a cheap Motel 6. I’d spend $20 more for a good hotel.
