Casa Loma

One of the worst hotel stays I’ve had. The room was tiny and filthy, from the floor and bed to the bathroom. I don’t get the other reviews calling the rooms clean. Maybe we have very different ideas about hygiene.

If getting a decent night’s sleep matters to you, don’t stay here. I have a sleeping disorder, which isn’t anyone else’s fault. After an almost sleepless night, I finally nodded off, only to wake very early to a woman screaming right outside my door. I ran to the window because that’s what I do when I hear a woman screaming. It turned out to be a staff member, or possibly the owner or his wife, calling loudly for the on-site dog. She wasn’t in danger. The dog gets out many times a day, and that’s not his fault, but no one seems willing or able to stop it. Yelling beside guests who are asleep is extremely inappropriate and disrespectful. We pay for a place to sleep, and ignoring that felt insulting, rude, and ignorant. To be fair, every other staff member was friendly, diligent, and polite. I’ve never posted an online review before. I’m lazy, and I’m no delicate princess, which should give you an idea of how insulted I felt. Thank you, internet.

The rooms are nice.

The breakfast was delicious, the hotel was well cared for, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. It’s a great value for the money. The one small irritation was the squeaky room doors, which woke other guests when someone went to the bathroom.
