Tipi Hostel

We had a really nice meal at the restaurant, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was pretty humid, probably because of the air conditioning, so no big deal, haha. The place itself is amazing.

Alex from the bar was the one bright spot in an otherwise miserable stay. From check-in onward, it was one disappointment after another, even though the place clearly has potential. Staff were rude or away on break throughout our stay. The sheets were dirty, the pillows moldy, and the bathrooms disgusting. Finding toilet paper in a stall was unusual. The price is ridiculous for what you get, with no value at all. Save yourself the hassle and avoid it.

Monkeys swinging by and all the lush greenery made the surroundings feel like paradise, and the pool and bar were lovely too. The room needed more care, though. We didn't have basic cleaning supplies like a broom, and were given just half a roll of toilet paper to start with. The peaceful setting and shared areas are fantastic, but better attention to the rooms would make the stay much better.

We stayed five nights and were very happy with the place. I expected to trade a long walk to the surf for a more relaxed hostel, but it turned out to be well placed for the better break in the bay, down a path from the hostel. The beginner spot is close to the other Selina. We were also away from the noise of the main strip. The pool was lovely, the grounds were nicely landscaped, and the restaurant was good. Daily cleaning was included and pretty good for what we paid. It wasn't the cleanest place I've stayed, though, and there was a live cockroach in our shower, so be ready for that sort of thing. The staff member who welcomed us was really nice and upgraded our private room with a shared bathroom to one with its own bathroom. We appreciated that. The stay exceeded my expectations after what we'd heard about Selina hostels.
