Intillaqta Machu Picchu

The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was quiet. Breakfast started at 5 AM, which was useful, but the food quality was low. The room looked awful and smelled, and it was missing basics like a bedside light and towel hooks. The bathroom was humid with no ventilation.

I stayed in mid April and didn’t pay much, so my expectations were low. The room was okay, but the front-facing windows were poor and let in every street noise. There was also a really loud river crashing outside nonstop. That may be down to the end of rainy season, so perhaps it’s not an issue in June or July. Noise from the corridor came through easily too. Breakfast was okay, with fruit, tea, coffee, and yoghurt. The counter staff were helpful and even got my laundry done late at night. There were no plugs for charging a phone, just two high up on the wall for the TV and decoder. For the price, it was fine.

The location was the only thing worth a star. The bathroom hadn't been cleaned, the sheets were dirty, the neighbors were loud, there was no hot water, and breakfast was disappointing. In the morning, staff handed me a key to somebody else's room as their solution to the cold shower. A night of terror. I wouldn't recommend this place at all, especially when Aguas Calientes has much better hotels for the same price.

The room was spotless, and opening the windows let in a lovely breeze during my June stay. I also really liked hearing the river just outside.
