The owners were kind, and they let us check in very early when we first arrived, which we really appreciated. Our room was simple but clean, and the small inner garden was lovely. The rooftop kitchen terrace is a great place for breakfast or relaxing, with a view of Misti volcano and the surrounding mountains. There was one big problem on our return visit: our reserved room had already been given away. They sent us to a pretty awful motel across the street. It was late, so we had no real choice but to stay there. They charged us less, but it still wasn’t okay. It’s a lovely place run by a lovely couple, but this shouldn’t have happened.

I wish I’d checked the reviews first. I booked through Booking.com more than two months ahead and arrived with two reservations, but they said they were full and couldn’t find me on their list. Somehow the rooms were still showing as available on Booking.com that night 😂 It’s run by an older couple who seem not to know how to use the site. If you’re planning to stay, perhaps contact them directly. The lodging is very basic, though I guess the price reflects that, even if I would have liked the room I booked 🥲. I went to Flying Dog hostal down the road instead. Luckily they had a room for a good price, much cheaper than the rate listed on Booking.com.

We’d definitely come back. The hosts were so welcoming and friendly, and it had a really homey feel. Being close to the center, with restaurants, mini markets, and bakeries all around, was handy. Getting to check in early made our arrival much better, too.

The hosts were always kind and ready to help. They let us check in early even though we hadn’t arranged it, and later kept our luggage while we went on a day tour to the Salinas. They even let us use a shower afterward when we no longer had a room.

We walked over after Booking.com had confirmed our reservation, but they rudely told us they were full and basically shut the door in our faces. Really poor service. I wouldn’t bother booking here.
