I booked through expedia two months ahead, after finding that a mining convention had made Arequipa's good hotels unavailable and prices high. This place was already very expensive, but it seemed like I had little choice. Then the hotel canceled my reservation on its own and told expedia that I had asked to cancel. I can only assume it was overbooked or they wanted to resell the room for more. In more than 13 years of using expedia, I'd never had this happen, and expedia couldn't help me. Now I'm stuck with somewhere even more overpriced and uglier, but I'd rather have no business with this irresponsible hotel.

The upstairs terrace was great, and we had a good stay. The rooms weren't especially clean, though, and it was noisier than the usual sounds. For the price, the comfort was just okay.

The street outside is busy, so noise is the one drawback. Still, the hotel is just a short walk from the market and Place d'Armes, and the terrace is a pleasant spot. Rooms were clean, the staff were very helpful, and breakfast from the buffet was excellent. They also have hot water for tea or coffee at reception.

Terrazas del Sol is clean and comfortable, with excellent service, a good restaurant, and a lovely terrace where they play music. I was very satisfied with my stay and already know where I'll stay when I'm back in Arequipa. I highly recommend it. The hotel also runs all its services on solar power and is energy self-sufficient, which is great for anyone committed to protecting the environment.
