I spent time working in the hotel's two gardens, which made a nice change from being in the room. They're lovely places to sit and eat, and everything was spotless. The nearby area feels modern and pleasant, with a big park where there are llamas. Ubers usually get there in under 10 minutes. The room was hard to fault: a large, comfortable bed, a desk, good lighting, very hot water, and a fantastic hot tub. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, especially Alexandria and Emily. They even offered to bring breakfast when service was about to end and we couldn't make it there. They were patient with my Español, too.

The hotel's in a pleasant green neighborhood. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the center, though I wouldn't make that walk at night. Taxis tend to be busy when you hail one passing by, so book one before heading out. Our suite was roomy, cozy, and clean, the staff were helpful, and the breakfast buffet was nice.

La Gruta Hotel feels like a peaceful refuge in the middle of a hectic city. I loved having the beautiful garden for my morning coffee. The rooms are comfortable and modern, with all the up-to-date amenities you could want in Peru.

The hotel was fantastic. One warning, though: don't rent a motorcycle from PeruMotors. They don't maintain them, and you could end up stranded.
