Hotel Las Dunas

I’ve been coming here for years, and it remains a really reliable choice for a weekend away from Lima. The Saturday shows are made entirely in-house and are amazing. The entertainment is great, and the food is pretty good too.

We loved looking out at the nature from our room and seeing chickens and all kinds of birds. There are flowers and greenery all around the hotel, which feels like a little European village. The rooms are clean and spacious, and breakfast is served outside with a variety of foods to choose from.

We made such special memories at Las Dunas, and only wish we could’ve stayed longer. Our family loved the five-bedroom Villa with its private pool. It was just right for our vacation. The location feels magical, and the facilities have improved a lot since our last visit several years ago. Management seems to have thought of everything for a fun, relaxing stay. The grandkids loved the pool slides, playground, horses, and chickens with their chicks. We all enjoyed the delicious food and drink options included in our package. Every staff member we dealt with was cheerful and courteous, from the front desk, bellboys, housekeeping, room service, restaurant and bar servers, and poolside entertainers to the nurse who cared for my husband. She didn’t charge for the medical help. The service culture here really stands out.

Some of the staff were fantastic and very helpful, but after my latest visit I don’t think I could stay at Las Dunas again. I’ve been three times, with great experiences in 2018 and 2020, but this was the worst hotel stay I’ve had. Our group was in rooms 224 and 225. The outside walls were quite dirty, probably from rain and dust, though they wouldn’t have taken much effort to clean. In room 225, the AC rattled so badly we couldn’t use it and had to leave the windows open, which wasn’t ideal with flies and insects around. The TV box audio in room 224 was distorted and unusable. At lunch, one of our party ordered a cheese and meat platter at the bar. The meat and cheese seemed a day old, so we sent it back. While we were eating, a staff member mopped under our table, bumping our chairs and leaving a disinfectant smell. And when we reported toenail clippings on the floor of one room at check-in, the front desk said they’d send someone to look, without apologizing.
