A terrible place for 450 soles for three nights.

The room was clean when we arrived, and they let us check in early at no extra charge. Staff were attentive, and there’s a budget menu at the hotel. The price was good too, especially since we went at the end of the year when most hotels raise their rates. The location is on an oval, with a lot of noise from cars, machines, and loud music nearby. Our windows faced the hallway, so the rooms didn’t get much ventilation or natural light.

We stayed at the end of October for El Bosque Open Air. It’s about a 15-minute walk to the main square, enough time to get used to the altitude and explore this beautiful city. The staff were very friendly and attentive, the showers had plenty of hot water, and the price was reasonable, especially if you find a deal. We’d traveled overnight and hoped to sleep during the day, but our room was at the end of the first-floor hallway and we barely slept. Hostel staff were shouting, a child in another room was talking loudly, and the noise echoed. Street sounds and car horns came through too, since it’s a busy area. Our window was sealed, with air getting in only through a crack, and the Wi-Fi signal in the room was weak. They also never seemed to have change when we paid with large bills.

The rooms are small, but they do a decent job of keeping out noise from Magdalena Oval. The hotel has Wi-Fi and cable TV, though the TV signal is poor enough to make it pointless. Service is good, but the bathroom should be cleaned daily. For 30 soles a night, the basic amenities could be reasonable if cleanliness and the TV signal improved. The location is noisy and doesn’t look very safe at first glance.
