The German family checking in after us ran into the same booking mix-up: they’d reserved one room and were offered another. We’d messaged the owner on WhatsApp to book a room with two full-size beds, but when we arrived with our family they tried to put us in a room with two twin beds, then suggested we pay for another room or two. After a seven-hour drive, with the sun going down and little kids needing somewhere to sleep, that was a terrible situation. I called the owner, who wasn’t at the hotel. She didn’t apologize or offer any discount on a second room. We eventually found another hotel in town for much less. I can’t tell whether the owner is neglectful or running a scam, but be warned.

We ate every meal there, and the food was great. The place is tucked off the main road, with a lovely valley view from the yard, and it’s just a few steps from the river and town. The pool was chilly, but we liked it. Our room was a little small, though not too bad. You’re there to be outside anyway. It’s a gem on the way to or from Cuzco, and we wish we’d had more time than just a stopover.

The simple breakfast came with friendly service, and the WiFi was good. Rooms are basic and small, but clean, and the shower was cold. There’s secure parking, though space is limited. At 45 USD through booking[dot]com, it felt too expensive for what you get.

The room was warm and clean, making this a good stop between Nasca and Cusco. Parking is tight for a hotel of this size, so if you arrive and leave early, expect that you might get blocked in.
