Finding the perfect hostel in Chivay is hard, but this one had the basics covered: it was clean, with hot water, towels, comfortable beds, a kitchen, and okay Wi-Fi. Marina made the stay, though. She helped me with everything, walked me to the bus station, and negotiated a discount on my bus to Puno. She also told me about town and brought in special fruits for breakfast to fit my diet. You can't go wrong staying here.

Mirena was really kind, and she managed to bump this up to two stars for me. She was overworked, and neither staff member spoke English, but Mirena was patient using our translator app. We speak Spanish, so that part wasn't an issue. The rest of the stay was rough. Breakfast was tiny, the rooms were freezing even with an extra blanket and space heater, and the heater made the room too bright to sleep. The bathroom was tiny too. The Wi-Fi didn't work, there was no extra oxygen like other hotels nearby had, and noise from the restaurant next door and the roosters came straight through the thin walls. Worst place I've stayed in Peru so far. It would have been an easy one star otherwise.
