The lake views are stunning, and the rooms were clean, but they’re a little worn. The sheets and towels were clean too. Beds are quite firm, which suited me, and the water pressure was good. Bring your own shampoo, though, as the hotel’s isn’t worth relying on. It’s about 30 minutes from Puno, so this works well if you want peace and quiet, less so if you want to be in town. The staff were wearing jackets in July, but the public areas had no heating. Breakfast was okay, with very few choices. To use the jacuzzi or sauna, you have to give four hours’ notice. The schedule made it hard to fit in around day trips. When we got to the sauna, it was literally cold, and after 20 minutes it still hadn’t steamed or warmed up much. The 100 soles felt like the worst money I spent in Peru. It’s described as free, but in practice it isn’t. The front desk gave different answers to the same questions, depending on who was there. Restaurant food was okay, though disappointing if you’ve already had plenty of Peruvian food. The waiter did what he could with the supplies available. The bar was similar, though they do have happy hour for pisco sour. If a clean room and a firm bed are enough for you, maybe it’s worth considering.

The staff were consistently helpful, and the food was satisfying. Taypikala Hotel Lago was comfortable, with well-equipped rooms and an easy enough drive to Puno Plaza. A dependable base for seeing Lake Titicaca and the area around it.

The room was lovely, the bed really comfortable, and the hotel was peaceful and clean near Puno. We enjoyed both lunch and dinner at the restaurant, and the included breakfast was tasty, filling, and offered plenty of choice. We booked partly because the website listed an indoor pool, but it was closed for our whole stay. The jacuzzi and sauna were closed as well, so we couldn’t use those either. I’d call ahead to see whether the facilities are open before booking.

The beds are very comfortable, and the hotel has everything you need for a spiritual journey through this breathtaking country. The setting is wonderful, the breakfasts are amazing, and the kitchen is great.

The views and location are perfect, and the rooms are clean with very nice beds. Breakfast was perfect too. By Peruvian standards the hotel is excellent, while by European standards it’s fine. The pool is small and cold. We went to get a drink at the bar, but it was closed because the bartender had the day off. Weird!
