The main concern was our privacy. My husband was ill and spent one day sleeping in the room with the ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on the door. A male staff member knocked and woke him, then came into the room anyway. My husband was really surprised and concerned. We’d booked through a group tour and expected more after staying at the same group’s place in Urubamba. This hotel was much more basic, with dated rooms. Staff were loud outside the rooms early in the morning, and the wood floors made the noise echo. The breakfast was simple but tasty. There were some good practical things: the room was very clean and tidy, had a fridge, and we could use a plug-in heater for the chilly evenings. The beds had plenty of layers to adjust, the towels were fresh, and the bath filled quickly thanks to the strong water flow. When the electrics went out on our first night, staff came straight up and fixed it in five minutes. Everyone we spoke to was friendly and helpful. Happy Hour was decent too, and the passionfruit Pisco Sours were delicious. Shops and a few restaurants were walkable, though we were a little out of the centre.

The hotel sits in a local commercial neighborhood that felt safe and stayed quiet overnight. It’s near the airport, but the main attractions are farther away, about a 10-minute Uber ride for around 8 soles. My room was large and comfortable for a quick layover, and the free breakfast was satisfactory. I liked the antique pictures in the room and around Agustos Cusco.

The staff were great, and getting to the airport was convenient. The city center is about a quick 10-minute cab ride away. The trouble was the noise: it seems to be a central meeting point for tour buses, and tours can start as early as 4am, so the activity interrupted my sleep.

A decent place with helpful staff and decent restaurants. It’s outside the centre, but the 5 - 10 minutes walk is pleasant, passing shops and points of interest where you get a glimpse of local life.

There’s no soundproofing to speak of, so it was hard to get to sleep. Early morning cleaning made things worse, with the crew being very loud and waking hotel guests at 6am. The WiFi was terrible and the water pressure kept changing. The hotel itself is very dated, and the location isn’t ideal either. Decent restaurants are a 10+ min walk away.
