Posada Villa Mayor

The place has a traditional charm, and the food at breakfast was really good, even though the options were limited. The facilities are basic. The location is superb, just a one-minute walk from Plaza de Armas. Planning was easy thanks to the quick, helpful replies we got on WhatsApp.

A couple of years ago, I stayed here and liked how close it was to the city center, just a few steps away. The hotel has a historic feel, and my room had a pretty view. The free breakfast was decent, the bed was okay, and the staff were helpful and nice. At night, cars passing by made it very loud, since the windows aren't soundproof. I wish I'd packed earplugs. The shower's hot water also needs work because the temperature wasn't steady and could suddenly get very hot.

The staff were wonderful, and I loved how close the hotel was to the city center. It's noisy, but headphones helped me sleep like a baby. Breakfast was good enough, simple and all I needed. They also let me store my bag for free while I was on the Inca Trail. The room was chilly, but I put a comforter along the bottom of the balcony door, shut the curtains, and turned up the heater. The heavy blankets on the bed were great.

Sightseeing is easy from this excellent location, though the busy streets stay noisy at night. The window shutters don't block much sound, so I'd bring earplugs. Inside, the open courtyard brings lots of natural light into the beautiful central area. The beds are comfortable, the shower works well, and breakfast is nice. Nothing extravagant, but it's a very comfortable hotel. Staff stored our extra bags during our two-day outing to Ollantaytambo and Machu Picchu. They were also helpful in finding secure transport to the airport.
