The rooms were clean, the staff were helpful and pleasant, and the location was great and quiet. Breakfast was a good continental spread. The early 9 am checkout was the downside.

The staff were the bright spot: they were friendly and easy to reach. The stay itself had several problems. We were initially given just one room instead of the two we’d booked. Our room wasn’t very clean, with a lot of dirt under the bed, and the toilet was extremely small. Worst of all, we had no warm water for three days, even after reporting the issue as soon as we noticed it.

The room and bathroom were basic but clean, and the breakfast area gets plenty of sun. Reception staff were friendly. The location was especially useful for catching the Peru Rail bus between Cusco and Ollantaytambo, since Wanchaq Station is only two blocks away.

The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were clean and adequate. Staff were responsive and hospitable, and a continental breakfast was served each day. Sleep was difficult, though: the walls let sound pass easily between rooms, and street-facing rooms were very loud all night.

Principe III is a humble hotel with welcoming staff, and a convenient base if you’re in Cusco for Machu Picchu by Peru Rail. Wanchaq station is about 150m away, which makes the trip easy to start.
