The room was so noisy that we were woken around 5am by cleaners and bins, even though we’d been given a supposedly quiet room. There wasn’t even a couple of bottles of water on arrival, unlike every other place we stayed in Peru, and breakfast seemed like yesterday’s food. The hotel feels worn out and badly needs a refurbishment, while still charging premium prices. Maybe it was grand 20 years ago, but the bathroom now felt dangerous: we had to hold the shower cubicle together, and there was sharp metal we could easily have cut ourselves on. Staff were friendly at check-in, then dismissive when I asked questions. They didn’t realize I understood pigeon Spanish and were very rude. I’ve never written a review before, but I feel strongly that people should know this isn’t the place to book in Cusco. There are plenty of lovely alternatives in the same price range. Big thumbs down from me.

Breakfast was a joke: leftovers from the hotel restaurant the night before, including rice, roast potatoes, mixed vegetables, and stale bread. We were woken around 6:30am by wheelie bins being dragged past our room on the fourth floor, along with the patio being jet-washed. The Superior room was old, outdated, and broken, with doors that didn’t fit their frames and squeaky floors. I dread to think what a regular room is like. The WiFi was so slow we couldn’t send a WhatsApp message to another guest in the hotel. When we raised it, staff were rude and muttered insults in Spanish. They claimed it worked fine, but our speed test showed 0.00. The water came out brown and cold after we had to locate a stop cock that was switched off in the wall. When we complained, we got an annoyed response and were told they’d check the tank. After 10-15 minutes it stopped being brown, but only warmed to lukewarm, never hot. We’d had a lovely few days in Peru before this stay, but the rude staff really let it down. They insulted us in Spanish, apparently assuming we didn’t understand. We stayed at other Cusco hotels, but they were full for our final night, so please choose somewhere else. This is a long review because I wanted to explain how inadequate and disappointing the place was.

The bins were rolled past our balcony between 6am and 7am, making a racket and waking everyone up. We’d booked a superior suite, but the hot tub had cold, brown water. At reception, staff insulted us in Spanish behind our backs, assuming we didn’t speak it. The WiFi wasn’t even good enough to check email, and the staff were very rude. The hotel feels outdated. It was a shame for our last nights in Peru, especially after how lovely everyone had been elsewhere.
