Atoq San Blas Hotel

The hillside location came with a lovely view over town, and the hotel more than made up for the climb. They arranged rides right to the front door and helped whenever we needed transport or information. The courtyard and surrounding areas were clean, with pretty plants and comfortable furniture. My son and I also had one of the best massages we’d had in a long time, arranged through reception in an extra room at the hotel. Breakfast was excellent, including eggs made to order. When we left at 4:00 a.m. for hikes, a breakfast bag was waiting by the front door. The laundry service was fast and first class, with an expedited option too, though I can’t imagine why anyone would need it. Our room was impeccably clean, and at roughly $100 a night, I don’t think you could find a better deal. A couple of things could be improved. Airflow was odd: the only window opened at the back of the bathroom, and you could almost see into the next room if its window was open. The bathroom mirror also needed better lighting, though I’ve seen that in other places in Peru.

I had a superior room with a very comfortable mattress and a nice shower. There was a TV and telephone, though I didn’t use the TV, plus an excellent city view. The staff were very nice, and having hot water and tea available in the lobby all day and night was helpful for staying hydrated. A very good boutique-style hotel.

The team made our time in Cusco feel special, and I’d happily stay at Atoq San Blas Hotel again. Lenin and Melinda at reception helped arrange taxis, laundry and luggage storage. They kept our bags free while we spent a night in Machu Picchu, then stored them again on checkout day since our flight wasn’t until late evening. They were attentive with extra towels and quick to answer questions on WhatsApp. Sincere thanks to the whole team, and I hope management recognizes how kind and hardworking they are. Erika welcomed us with tea and explained which varieties might help with altitude sickness. She patiently went over the WiFi, breakfast, tours and general recommendations, which made us feel comfortable right away. Before we arrived, the hotel had also arranged our airport taxi for $10 through WhatsApp, and it was waiting when we landed, so getting there was stress-free. Our room was comfortable, clean and had a beautiful view. The hotel was well maintained and a relaxing place to return to after exploring. Breakfast staff were cheerful and attentive, and there was plenty to choose from: fresh fruit, drinks, eggs cooked to order and more. Everything was fresh. They also had takeaway breakfasts ready for our early Rainbow Mountain tour, which made the start much easier. The service was consistently thoughtful, from the staff to the convenient laundry and luggage help. I’d recommend Atoq San Blas Hotel to family and friends, and would gladly come back.

The hotel is very close to the city attractions, and I had a very good stay. The service was great and the room was fairly comfortable, though a little cold. If it’s your first trip to Cusco, check the location carefully: there’s an incline and stairs, which can be a consideration at this altitude.
