The location is great, and the rooms are basic but affordable. Showers were hot in the morning, though the water could run out in the evening or at night. The thin walls also mean it gets very noisy.

The inner courtyard kept the rooms really quiet. There’s a kitchen with decent equipment, and we were given towels for the shower. A great little place.

We were able to stay after checkout, and the staff kept our bags for us. They also waited up even though we arrived very late, past check-in time. The beds and blankets were comfortable, the facilities were good, and the value and location were incredible. I’d strongly recommend Carlos Guest House.

San Blas is a great neighborhood, and the place was good value for money. There’s a minimarket and laundromat just outside, with San Blas market 250 meters away and Plaza de Armas a 12 minute walk. We stayed about 8 nights, maybe more, and liked it. Our room had no window, but the living room was comfortable and had a great TV. The kitchen was well equipped, the bathroom was shared with only two other rooms, and the shower had hot water and nice pressure compared with other places in Peru. Carlos was a great host and spoke decent English. He also let us leave our bags for 5 days while we did the salkanty trek.
