The staff were lovely, and the service was great. We booked late but still got a really nice room, and the beds were especially comfortable. It gets a little chilly at night, though the blankets kept us warm. The location is perfect, even with all those steps up from the city center. Good value too. I’d happily stay again.

The views and grounds were beautiful, and I’d come back to this cute, quaint hotel in Cusco. Just keep expectations realistic: it’s definitely not the Ritz Carlton. We thought of it as camping indoors, which suited us, but it won’t work for anyone who needs lots of amenities. The rooms are scattered around the complex, which is split by an alley. Some groups of rooms have small yards or terraces. Near our room there was a shared kitchen with cookware, dishes, cutlery, a fridge, tables and chairs, plus outdoor seating with a coffee table. We were there in April 2025. The nights were cold, but our many-layered “lasagna” blanket kept us warm, sometimes almost too warm. Days felt around 40°F-60°F, and nights were 40°F or lower. You can get a heater on request. There’s electricity and hot water, and I think Wi-Fi was available, though I can’t remember using it. The building is made of clay, terracotta, cement and wood, so it creaks and echoes. We spoke softly to be considerate. It was quiet while we were there, but there weren’t many other guests, so I’m not sure what it’s like when full in peak summer. They spread guests around the hotel. The free breakfast was simple and tasty, with a great view, juice, coffee and tea. Eggs ran out quickly, so get there early if you’re hungry. Free tea and hot water are available all day. Cusco’s a culinary city, so go out for your other meals. A few buildings east there’s a small shop with soap, shampoo, conditioner and bottled water; a little farther along, a laundry place will wash and fold your clothes while you’re out. Getting around can be tough, especially right after landing if you’re not used to big changes in elevation. Those stairs were brutal for us, and we messed up our altitude sickness medication, so we had a rough time. The staff were very helpful and accommodating, but there was a language barrier and Google Translate sometimes caused misunderstandings. My boyfriend speaks Spanish fluently, though even he found the local dialect a bit different.

We’d read the bad reviews after booking through Airbnb and were worried, but our stay turned out really well. The rooms were clean, the kitchen was in good shape, and everyone was so nice and helpful. The views of Cusco were amazing. There are stairs, so a really large suitcase could be a challenge, but we had a great experience and loved the view from this lovely district.

The rooftop has a nice view of Cusco, and the location is good with a reasonable price. But I wouldn’t come back. We stayed in two rooms, a suite and a standard room. The bed in one was sagging on one side, and the rooms were extremely cold. The little “fireplace” was the only heat, but it didn’t burn well. The wood we bought there was too big to fit and still green, so it barely burned. I was sick for the whole stay from the cold, even sleeping in a hat and sweater. Some of the front desk women were rude and seemed annoyed when we asked for services. We weren’t given enough towels or soap for the stay, and hauling luggage up all those stairs was exhausting. If comfort matters, I’d look elsewhere, or go in warmer months to avoid the cold.

The garden gave the place a peaceful feel, and the views were incredible. Our room was spacious, the hot shower worked perfectly, and the hosts were so welcoming and helpful. Getting to the room meant climbing several flights of stairs, but they kindly carried our luggage, which made a big difference. We also appreciated the free tea in the kitchen. The views made the stay well worth it. Highly recommend.
