Eco Inn

A pleasant place in general, with friendly, helpful staff and a simple but decent breakfast. The rooms were much too cold, though, and it took ages for the shower water to heat up.

The garden is a nice place to sit in the sun, and the hostel has plenty of sofas, a bar, and a pool table that’s old and worn but still fun. There’s free tea in the breakfast room all day, and breakfast itself was generous and tasty. Staff were consistently friendly, courteous, and helpful. Our six-bed bunk room was spacious, with a bathroom right beside it that was cleaned daily, and the beds were bigger than at other hostels, about 120x200. The location isn’t ideal unless you’re going to or from the Inkarail office. Wifi worked throughout, but there are several networks and not all worked equally well, which was confusing. We safely stored our backpacks for a night while we went to Aguas calientes. With those small quirks aside, I warmly recommend staying here.

The breakfast was a highlight, with fresh eggs plus a buffet of fruit and cereal, and the location was really good. Our beds were very comfortable, and while the room and bathroom felt especially cold because we were beside reception and the front door was always open, the showers were hot. The staff’s help wasn’t consistently welcoming or useful. I was also upset that they charged us $5 to stay just 20 extra minutes in the room for an important meeting.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the inn has wifi, breakfast, games, and a pool table. The place is distinctive, but the rooms were only so-so. The shower head was clogged with mineral buildup and sprayed in every direction until I rubbed some of it off with my fingers. Both rooms I used also drained slowly, and some of the phone charging ports didn’t work. There’s no A/C, it isn’t wheelchair friendly, and one room had a broken door lock. The advertised airport shuttle costs extra. I wouldn’t return, since there are cleaner places nearer the main part of town.
