Hotel Casa Campesina

For what it cost, this hotel was perfect for us. The atmosphere was friendly and cute, the breakfast decent, and they let us leave our luggage there both the day before and the day after.

The young man who checked us in was accommodating and really nice. Breakfast was included and pleasant, and the hot water and water pressure were great. I also liked the hotel’s decor and the staff were nice in general. A couple of things made my three-day stay frustrating. The wifi didn’t work in the room, so I had to sit in the courtyard to get online. At checkout, a woman at the counter tried to add fees even though I’d paid ahead. When I questioned her in my broken Spanish, she dropped it, but I left feeling she’d thought she could take advantage of a tourist. When I visited, none of the staff really spoke English, so it’s worth being prepared for that.

The only good things were the location close to plaza the armas and the quiet. My room on the second floor was cold, the bedding was dirty, and the shower was cold too. Breakfast was terrible, and the staff were rude and hard to communicate with. This is a terrible hotel, and I don’t recommend it.

Several of the listed amenities weren’t available. They also charged us in soles at a rate higher than the current exchange rate, even though the booking showed a different one.
