Hotel Plateros

Being so close to the main square was a real plus, but I wouldn’t stay here again. When we arrived, there was no hot water. We were told it only works at very low water pressure, and that the previous guests had turned the pressure up. The toilet also had no seat. There’s a strict 11 pm lockout, so this place won’t suit you if you stay out late. The biggest letdown was the charge for my seven-year-old daughter. At first, I was told she could share my bed at no extra cost. A few hours later, after the staff changed shifts, they wanted to charge us. We went back and forth and asked them to check the reception cameras for the conversation with the earlier receptionist. They eventually agreed to the original rate.

We paid $85 a night and got a terrible room and bathroom. The location seems to be what the owner is making money from. Everything else was below one star. A huge disappointment.

We were happy with our stay in Cusco, and the affordable price helped. I spent three days here with my family, and we were well looked after. The three young women on staff take turns, and they were all very friendly. The rooms were clean and roomy, with hot water, and there’s an elevator. Breakfast was good too. At the front desk there’s a thermos of hot water and infusions, plus a small table and TV. Check-in is at noon. The hotel is close to Plaza de Armas, shopping centers, and restaurants.

We lasted just one night because none of our requests were dealt with, and the stay was awful. The location is good, and the staff did try to help with tourists’ needs, but the facilities were terrible. There was no hot water in the rooms, and breakfast was very basic. The owner was unresponsive, and with so little to do at the hotel, the service left a lot to be desired. The breakfast area felt like a huge undertaking, with no room to improve the decor or hygiene. If horror tourism is your thing, book here.
