Hotel Inka Lam

There was no hot water in the tea carafe three times on the same day, and it feels like things aren't being maintained. I was also charged Peru's 18% tax on my hotels.com reservation even though I'm not a resident, so the stay cost 18% more and felt much more expensive than other options for what you get. The room was clean and the shower could get hot, but I got no sleep. The street was loud, with people yelling outside the local bar, and people hammering constantly from 1:30 to 2:30 a.m. Noise from people in the hotel carries too. At Cusco's altitude, you need sleep and rest, and I got none.

The breakfast was scant and very poor quality, and the rooms smelled awful.

My room, 401, had a shared window, and the light on the other side stayed on all night. I never got a proper night's rest. Noise was a constant problem, with a bar across the street where people shouted, laughed, and sometimes got into drunken fights. From 3 a.m., people were talking and yelling and doors were slamming. There was never hot water for tea or coffee. We left early for tours, but they never provided the breakfast they were supposed to pack for us. I don't recommend this hotel.

The rooms were clean, though the shower pressure could be better. Guillermo and Xiomara were welcoming and gave us useful local tips and recommendations. The hotel is near the city center and plaza.
