We arrived tired after a long walk from the taxi drop-off, carrying heavy backpacks, and the man at the front desk was scrambling to locate our booking. He eventually found my name, then told us we'd have to stay at another hotel that was supposedly “the same.” It was about 2 blocks away, pretty gross, and our room had 4 beds but no hot water. We spent one night there, then booked a full AirBnb for our next 3 nights in Cusco. At $25/night for a one-bedroom apartment, that was WAY better than this. I would love to tell you about this hotel, but they did NOT hold our reservation. BEWARE, they will *NOT* hold it.

Our room was in another building, 10 minutes away, after they said the hotel was full, even though we arrived around 1:30pm, the agreed check-in time. The place clearly wasn't ready for guests: dust everywhere and maintenance still going on. The TV didn't work, and the cupboard had neither handles nor hangers. What bothered me most was the male staff member's dismissive attitude toward our complaints. They hadn't kept our reservation, so the service was poor from the start.

By Friday night, we were left without a pickup at the time we'd scheduled for the bus to Hidroelectrica, which we had made the mistake of letting them arrange. When we got back that night, they said they had no reservation for us that night or the next. As we waited, they handed keys to two families who had arrived after us. At 11pm we had to book another hotel at the last minute and change the pickup for a tour the next day. Nothing short of a nightmare. We ended up at Aneres al cielo on the same block, which was better all around, and I'd stay there. This was the worst hotel I've ever stayed at: careless, dirty, and they don't hold reservations. On a Wednesday winter night, our room was freezing and there was no hot water.

The room under the roof upstairs was the worst one, noisy and humid. The other room we had was much better. The breakfast was good, and it was the best Wi-Fi I had in Peru.

Fredy and Mari are really nice hosts, and the place is clean and close to the main square. They also arrange tours, so you don't have to worry about anything.
