Kokopelli Hostel Cusco

The social area is fun, with lots of comfy couches to relax on between day trips and hikes from Cusco. The beds are comfortable, and the staff are lovely and always trying to help. The en-suite rooms can get a bit wet at times, though that’s more down to guests not using the fan. This is my favorite viajero so far.

I’d recommend Viajero to anyone who likes a hostel’s cozy feel but wants a private room. We had a really good stay, though the breakfast was the one letdown: it’s inexpensive, but nothing special, so we ate elsewhere after trying it once. When I got sick during our first three days, a receptionist whose name I can’t remember offered to call a doctor to come to the hostel. I didn’t need one, but I appreciated her effort to help. Our first room also didn’t have reliably warm water. Melina kept checking every couple of hours and tried to sort it out, then moved us to a nicer private room. Diana was helpful with all our questions too.

We stayed here on and off for quite a few days during our time in Peru, and the staff were always kind and ready to help with our questions. Jazmin and Maria were especially great at the tour desk. Signing up for the different hiking and tour days was easy, and the excursions all felt smooth, safe, and thorough. We had a really good time, and I’d recommend the place.

The hostel itself was good, but Maria made our trip planning especially easy. She put together a fully included Machu Picchu tour tailored to us, and was so kind and helpful. I’d strongly recommend arranging it with her.
