Marvelous Plaza

At night it was really noisy because they had a party going until 1am. The hot water was off every night, and we had to beg to get hot showers. One night there wasn't any water at all. We had booked a private double, but they put us in the wrong room and said ours had been taken. I wouldn't stay here.

Friendly staff and a spot very close to the historical center. I recommend it, whether you want an affordable dorm with a great view or, like me, decide to pay a bit more for an extremely comfortable private room. Their tours were competitively priced, and the guides are fluent in both Spanish and English. I didn't go with them, unfortunately, and only found out afterward that their prices were much better and the itinerary seemed more detailed than the tour I took.

I'm not happy with my stay. I overslept the very early 10am checkout after my sleep schedule was thrown off, and they made me pay for a whole extra day. I'd arrived very late after 11 hours on a motorcycle, soaked and with my body temperature low, only to learn that the hot showers were turned off at 11. I spent five hours shaking in bed before I could sleep around 6am. The next day I was exhausted and slept until 7pm, which completely wrecked my sleep rhythm.

For the price, this is a good hostel. The rooftop has a nice city view, and the dorm beds are good, each with its own electric outlet, right by the bed rather than somewhere random in the room. The bathroom and shower are clean and pleasant, and there was hot water late at night.
