Mayu Boutique Hotel

We had a nice experience, even though those stairs were quite a climb on the first day. Check-in at 10 a.m. went smoothly, arranged through our tour company. Since it was our first day, Deborah and America came by to tell us our guide had arrived and see how we were doing. They also brought an extra blanket and a heater for the June weather.

The hotel supports a local charity that helps local children, which is lovely. We also had comfortable beds, beautiful views over Cusco, and friendly staff. If we return, we'll stay here again.

After a long day of travel, we arrived around 7 p.m. and were told we couldn't check in because the property was supposedly under maintenance. The owner said a text had been sent in advance, but we never got one. It was a stressful and unpleasant surprise. They tried to move us to another hotel about 15 minutes away in downtown Cusco, an area we hadn't chosen. When we said we wanted to stay in the same area, they told us there was nothing nearby. We checked Booking and Expedia ourselves and found at least 10-15 available hotels in that area. We had to urgently book another place on our own, which caused a lot of unnecessary stress and hassle. If you're hoping for a stress-free vacation, I'd strongly recommend avoiding this place.

Buena onda! Everyone who worked there was super nice, and I loved the place. The room was clean and the bed was really comfy. Breakfast had options better than a basic continental spread, and the area around the hotel was lovely too. The artisan shop next door with the cat was amazing!
