The one real plus is the central location, and it’s low priced. The staff were generally friendly and helpful, but careless and chaotic. I paid them for a Rainbow Mountains tour, then found they’d organized a trip to some lake instead. Crazy. The hostel is underground and poorly ventilated, and it felt like a junkies’ hangout. It was badly maintained and dirty. The towel they gave me was already smelly and dirty, and the shower was cold, barely lukewarm despite them saying there was hot water. I’d booked a room well in advance, but they didn’t have it. They offered two alternatives. In one, you couldn’t properly lock the door to your room, since anyone could push it open. In the other, the window wasn’t secure. Don’t leave valuables behind.

The location is awesome, and so are the staff. I stayed almost a week, with a weekend trip to Machu Picchu during the first week. They let me leave my big travel bag there and had it ready when I got back. They also arranged bus transport to Machu Picchu and some other activities for me. The rooms can be noisy at night and sometimes aren’t very comfortable. There are no windows you can open for fresh air. Breakfast is pretty small, but that’s alright.

The owner was nice, but the place was the dirtiest ever and the bed was terrible.

It’s a nice, cheap hostel. Maybe not the best one, but at that price it’s totally worth the money.

The staff are really attentive and helpful, and the location is great. The bed was comfortable, and the room stayed warm enough. The price is fair, especially compared with what other Cusco hostels charge. Still, there are better places around. I’d only recommend staying if you just need a bed after the long walks and mountain climbs in the area. The shared bathrooms are awful, though that’s not entirely the staff’s fault, and the facilities are very old. Breakfast was weak for the amount of physical effort that comes with tourism here.
