I booked a double room for passengers taking a tour to Machu Picchu, and they were due to arrive late at night. Check-in was listed as available late, but when they got there, the hotel was completely closed, with no lights on and nobody answering the phone or doorbell. They waited outside in the cold, exhausted, for over 40 minutes. No one came to the window or responded to their calls. The hotel only has a landline, so email was the only other way to reach them, and I never got a reply the next day. I had to call again and explain what happened. The woman who answered said she was very sorry and that the night staff would be reprimanded. Terrible service.

It’s an average hotel in a good location, around eight blocks from the main square. There was no hot water. If you’re driving to Cusco, there’s a parking garage one block away.
