Apart Hotel Bello Oriente

The room itself was okay for the price, and they even upgraded me. My concerns are about how Luis, the hostel administrator, communicated when my plans became uncertain. I asked what the price would be if I paid at reception, just to check, not to request a discount. He mentioned the upgrade, which I appreciated, then immediately said I might have to move back to my original room if I stayed longer. Later, unforeseen issues changed my travel plans. I said I could confirm the next day whether I would extend my stay, and he promptly said he would put the room online to sell. I understood the business reasons, but felt he could have handled it more thoughtfully. It came across as though he didn't want me to stay longer. If nothing unexpected comes up, this is an affordable place, but from my experience everything here is about business. I also want to clarify the SIM card issue after seeing the hostel's response. My CLARO SIM card suddenly stopped working. Customer service said a government notice meant they couldn't reactivate it that month, but I could get a new one with a local accompanying me. I asked Luis for help and he declined. I wasn't angry and understood that he might not want to help someone he didn't know. I found another solution, so I didn't need his help. My review is still about how he communicated with me about the room, and I have our messages to support what I said. In his response, he denied it and said I was angry. I never said I was angry in any message, and he hadn't met me in person. After reading other reviews, I saw that many of the low ratings also mention this administrator's attitude. It seems I'm not the only guest who felt that way.

There were lovely outdoor areas full of beautiful plants, and everything was very clean. The kitchen was well stocked, too. The owner was one of the nicest people we've met in South America, and even gave us a free upgrade. We could leave our luggage there at no charge while we went on a rainforest trip. It was an unforgettable stay. Iquitos is a great place, and if I return, this is where I'd stay again.

The bed was really comfortable, and the showers were warm rather than hot, which suited the climate perfectly. Staff were very friendly, and the kitchen was great. For the price, you really can't go wrong. Highly recommend!

The owner was kind and helpful, and spoke with our tour guide for us, which made a real difference. The hostel was very clean, including the well-equipped kitchen. It had a microwave, oven, stove, mixer and coffee machine. A really good hostel.
