I went in for a large bottle of water since I was staying nearby, and they asked 7 soles. I know they usually cost 3.50, or 4 at most depending on where you are. I joked that it was precio de gringo, but they wouldn't change the price. The optics tienda next door sold me one for 3.50. When I returned and told them, they stuck to their price and said it was a different brand. I didn't believe that. This gringo pricing problem is something I could do without in South America. It raises a lot of questions. It doesn't happen everywhere, but it's definitely around. If you're a gringo in Iquitos, be smart and expect many prices to be about half of what you're quoted.

The service was good, and the rooms were spacious. It's in a central part of the city.

The room costs 80 soles for one person, and they offer airport pickup. Breakfast comes with it, though it's only bread with ham and papaya juice. The room was dirty, and instead of replacing the sheets they just put the same ones back on the bed. Air conditioning was the one positive. I really can't recommend it when cleanliness is such a basic thing to expect in a hotel room.
