Barranco is a wonderful neighborhood, and the house is well located, within walking distance of anything you might want to see there. The staff were kind and helpful, and our room was clean, but the carpets should go, along with about 90% of the clutter. The collections of teacups, bayonets, strange art, religious statues, and more overwhelm your senses as soon as you enter this beautiful building. It's stuffed with dust collectors and dust. Other reviews mention antiques and some clutter, but that doesn't prepare you for how much there is. It feels more like hoarding. I wouldn't recommend staying here. The price was OK, but with the filth outside our room, it was worth at most half of what we paid. I hate writing a review like this, because this sad building could be exceptional. Unfortunately, it isn't. Thank you to the kind, helpful staff.

The staff made this stay feel personal. Giancarlo, Ragnar, Jorge, and everyone else clearly take pride in their casa, and they shared plenty of stories and useful local advice. I even got moved to a better room because it happened to be free, and they went out of their way to help with things I wouldn’t have thought to ask for. The house itself is historic and full of character, a fitting little tribute to Lima’s culture. If Barranco’s artistic style suits you more than polished Miraflores, this place should fit. Just let them know if you expect to come back after 1 or 2 a.m., so the person on door duty is ready.

They sent us off with a warm hug. The place is lovely and welcoming, clean, and the staff are so friendly. They’ll give you a map and tips on what to see around Barranco. Just remember to ring the bell, since you could easily think the place is closed. Thanks so much!

There are nicer rooms around here for half the cost, so I’d save your money and look elsewhere. My room felt like a bad deal, and I’m leaving this review because the glowing ones didn’t prepare me for it. The hotel is run down and nothing like its description. The room door didn’t feel secure, the building was dim, and there was a mildew smell. I also can’t see why Google lists it as a four-star hotel.

We didn’t feel at ease, so we left and found a lovely nearby place for half the price. They turned down our refund request. We’d asked to switch to a room with a window, but that was rejected. Our room had no window we could open, felt damp and smelled bad, and there were visible signs of fungus in both the room and hallway. The place also badly needs cleaning and renovation, and looked nothing like the photos on our booking site. We agree with the negative reviews. Not recommended.
