Hotel Kamana

We found the hotel okay for a night or two, but I felt it was overpriced. It’s in a great spot, about four blocks or a 10-15 walk from the Plaza, with a small convenience store across the street. The staff were helpful, and breakfast was good: two scrambled eggs with ham, bread, fruit, coffee, tea, Peruvian Grits (avena), and bottled yogurt drink. But the room got really cold at night. There was hot water in the morning; for an evening shower I let it run for more than 10 minutes, and it only went from cold to almost warm. The first towels we got weren’t really clean, and the shower floor was slippery, like it hadn’t been scrubbed. We could hear street noise from our room and balcony facing the road. We’d reserved through Whatsapp, but the receptionist couldn’t find the booking when we arrived. We’d also arranged an airport pickup taxi through the hotel and nobody showed. In the end, we negotiated a late-night taxi to the hotel for 77 soles.

Our late flight was easy to manage because the hotel kept our bags and helped arrange rides to and from the airport. Kamana Hotel is also right in the city center, and the staff gave us some great places to eat. Breakfast was very good, especially the eggs made to order, something we weren't offered elsewhere in Peru. I'd definitely stay here when visiting Lima.

The hotel staff were really friendly and helpful, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. It sits nicely between Plaza de Armas and Plaza San Martín. Breakfast doesn't have a huge range, but it was good enough to keep us full through to lunch.

I've returned several times over the last 10-12 years. It's a family-run place, and some of the same staff have been there for more than 20 years. For a clean, simple, decent budget stay in Central Lima, it's a great choice. Highly recommend.
