The room was really clean and had the basics we needed, including AC, a hair dryer and shampoo. There was even DirecTV, and you could switch the dubbing on most shows and movies between Spanish and English. Nothing too fancy, but a nice hotel for the modest price. The hot water took a little while to come through. Our Uber driver also said the area might not be the safest at night. Apart from that, everything was great.

The beds were huge and comfortable, and the rooms a decent size. This is a fairly modern hostel in the fancy Remac district, with several gates and a front desk that keeps strangers out. It feels very secure. Breakfast costs extra, but I thought it was worth it for the fruit. There was no ham or cheese, just rolls, eggs, coffee and tea, and it was all tasty. The WiFi barely worked in my room, and with four floors and no lift, you may have to carry your luggage up the stairs. Still, given the condition of other buildings, this is a great choice. I got a very good price and liked the location too. Recommended.

The staff were super friendly and helpful, both day and night. Someone was always cleaning the floors, rooms or equipment during the day. It's a clean, well-run little hotel on a pedestrian street, nothing fancy. The hot water works in the shower, though the sink only has cold water. There's a flat 32-inch TV with Spanish channels, including CNN espanol and CNN Chile, plus a quiet split air conditioner that I didn't use. Interior rooms look onto an air well, while only two rooms face the street. The rooftop terrace is nice for breakfast and photos. The reception has street cameras and a fridge with local beers available around the clock, 4 soles at January 2019 prices. Plaza Mayor is a seven-minute walk away. The area felt fine during the day, but after 10 p.m., when everything closes apart from little casino bars, it gets sketchy. The crowds there were mostly drunk and loud, and I prefer to avoid them. There are lots of stairs, so anyone with mobility issues should skip it. Given the location, I'd recommend it to experienced travelers or people with street smarts. I'll return when I'm in Lima.

The room was clean and the staff friendly, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The bed felt like concrete, and the pillows like they were full of rocks. My room was by a window, so I heard all the street noise. The towels were flimsy.

The room was very clean and had the basics: shower, AC, hair dryer, mini-fridge, TV, towels and soap. WiFi was spotty, and there was no toothpaste or toothbrush. There's no food or room service outside breakfast. They take Visa, the staff are polite and friendly, and reception is open 24/7. We arrived late after our flight, and our Uber driver warned us the area was very dangerous, telling us to hide our phones and watch out for robberies. The hotel has triple gates and a barred-in front desk, like a KFC in a rough Detroit neighborhood. After dark, nothing was open apart from little casinos, and the few people on the streets were mostly drunk and loud. Even though the historic sights are very close, I wouldn't recommend this area for a woman traveling alone at night. I'm giving it four stars because it's a decent option for such a cheap price, and the unsafe neighborhood isn't the hotel's fault.
