Blue Ocean

I only meant to stop for the beachfront sunset and music from a duo, but ended up staying for cocktails and really tasty langostino. I think they made it in their wood-fired pizza oven. The manager and staff were attentive and lovely to talk with. I didn't stay at the hotel, though the restaurant and bar were great, and the setting is calm and lovely.

The owner was super cool, good vibes all around 😎 🎵 🏝️. We had a friendly waitress, though a few things we specifically asked for, including juice and sauces, never arrived. We chose the place for its beachfront spot, pool, and upstairs seating with a great sunset view. I'd recommend it to other travelers.

For three weeks at Blue Ocean I got to try loads of the delicious food. The beach setting is beautiful, especially at sunset, and there's a choice of sitting at a table on the beach or rooftop, relaxing by the fire, or stretching out in a lounge. After surfing, a drink and the chill music hit the spot.

The location worked really well, close enough to walk to the local center for fruit or a panedaria, and to the restaurants, bars, and clubs, but far enough from the busy stretch that its loud music didn't bother us. We stayed five days and four nights. The staff were all friendly, and the owners especially did their best to make the stay good. Our room was clean, the bed comfortable, and the bathroom fine. There are insect screens and a mosquito net. We didn't see mosquitoes during the day, and there were some around at night, so long pants or repellent are a good idea. Bring your own shampoo and shower gel, since neither is supplied. We also had to ask for fresh towels, and would have liked them changed daily. A small shelf for toiletries would have helped. The four cushioned sunbeds were among the comfiest we've used, and there were enough for us. You can also sit in chairs on the beach or inside the hotel gate, where it's less windy in bad weather but you still get a nice sea view. Drinks at the beach bar were reasonably priced, with large beers at 8 sol and cocktails at 15 sol. Pizza night was lovely too, 30 soles for a very good pizza with your choice of ingredients. Breakfast was simple but nice: tea, coffee, juice, bread with butter and jam, and eggs cooked how you like.
