Hostal Posada Real

I can only describe what happened to me, and honestly, I wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone. Anyone reading can decide for themselves where to stay. I’d choose another hotel. At check-in, the staff told me twice that the stay ran from “12 to 12 the following day,” and I confirmed it twice because I wanted to avoid any confusion. If the hotel follows a different schedule internally from what its staff tells guests, that’s an organizational problem on their end. When I tried to understand why they were now saying something else, the response was along the lines of, “Well, I already told you,” in a tone that, to me, wasn’t the basic courtesy you’d expect when paying for a service. I asked to see the security footage so we could clear things up right then, but they wouldn’t let me, which only left more questions. They quoted one price and then tried to change it. Staff said, “It’s because you’re from Lima.” How lovely! We all come here wanting to hear that :) They gave us one rate because we weren’t from Moquegua, then “invited us to leave.” It was all so lovely that even the police showed up. I loved it, but I’d look for another hotel. ✨ I did ask for the police to be present after hearing comments about me “being from Lima.” I wanted other people there so no made-up version of events could come out later. If they now want to call this “bad guest behavior,” go ahead. Every place has its own way of explaining away its internal problems. In response to the owner: this is what happened from my point of view, regardless of other people’s accounts.

The booking site showed one price, which came to 366 at the current exchange rate, but they charged me 399, saying the hotel sets its own exchange rate. TERRIBLE.

The area was very quiet, just a short walk from Moquegua’s main square. I stayed one night with my children, and the rooms were comfortable. The staff were attentive and very friendly, and the service was excellent. 100% recommended.

Good location and price, with a quiet, comfortable room and no noise. The customer service was good too. Recommended. 🙂‍↔️
