We had great food and service here. It's a good spot to unwind before or after a hike, especially if you want to get away from the busy town. It's not close to town, but a taxi is easy to get and costs about 50 soles.

My wife got sick from the altitude on the morning we were supposed to leave for Aguas Caliente. I felt completely at ease leaving her at Del Pillar for two more days while my son and I went to Machu Picchu. Audrey and the rest of the staff looked after her the whole time, making sure she was comfortable, had what she needed, and could recover. I'm truly grateful for that care and for our wonderful stay. Audry took care of us at every meal, and we'll never forget her or the great time we had. She's fun, professional, and knows a lot about Peru, its people, and its culture. The suite was amazing, the food was excellent, and the breathtaking views were matched by staff who were polite, attentive, helpful, and always checking that we were comfortable and happy. I'd give more than five stars if I could.

The rooms are spacious, and the area is quiet, but it's far from the restaurants and entertainment around town. Getting here was difficult too: the road is narrow and winding, with some dangerous crossings over train tracks. I can usually manage basic conditions and don't expect much, but the service and upkeep fell far below what I expected. It's hard to see how this hotel gets four stars or more on booking sites. It may have potential, but poor maintenance, unprofessional service, and a very limited breakfast made the stay disappointing. I wouldn't recommend it. We had to change rooms twice. The first shower didn't work at all, so we were moved to a second room where the water pressure was extremely weak and the air conditioner didn't work. Nights were very cold and uncomfortable. After we complained at the front desk, we were moved to a third room with a working AC, but the shower still had serious problems. We had specifically asked them to check it before moving us, and they hadn't. Breakfast was disappointing as well. The selection was mostly bread and cold cuts, with no vegetables, fruit, or cheese. They only made us an omelet after we asked, and seemed reluctant. When we asked for cheese, they gave us five slices for four people. Coffee came from a basic dispenser instead of a coffee machine. The same receptionist handled the food, cleared tables, cleaned, and took care of the rooms.

The property had such peaceful, magical views, and the staff were super friendly and helpful. Our family of five loved the huge, clean, very nice family room in the superset building. Fantastic place!
