The young man was the only person who tried to help and make things right. The owner was unfriendly and barely willing to assist. We also waited a while with no one available to check us in. The showers were cold, and despite Hostelworld listing a bidet, there wasn’t one. The kitchen was hardly a kitchen, and using the stove cost extra. The listing showed towel artwork out front, but there was none, and although it advertised room service, nobody ever cleaned my room.

Magarin was especially thoughtful and made an effort to look after us. The family are amazing, hardworking, and clearly take pride in making guests comfortable and giving them a genuine, rich Peruvian experience. The room had a comfortable, clean bed and a very clean bathroom with hot water. Breakfast was delicious. There’s a lot of charm here too, including a beautiful backyard. Highly recommend.

The washrooms were honestly disgusting, with pubic hair everywhere, soap scum, and even tissues with blood on them. The beds were uncomfortable and the pillows rock hard. The place is very basic, with no fan, AC, or anything similar, so the indoor temperature just follows the weather outside. Hot water might show up ten minutes after you turn it on, if you’re lucky.

We’d booked through HostelWorld, but when my partner and I arrived at 7 p.m., there was nobody at reception. The lights were off and the door was open. The keys were all there, so we could have taken one ourselves. It felt like the place had been abandoned, and the foyer smelled of dog urine. Don’t book this place.
