The room we got looked nothing like the photos on booking sites. It was very basic for the price, and the pictures seemed to be of the premium rooms. The owner was rude when we raised the mismatch and wouldn’t refund us, even though we didn’t want to stay. I can’t understand the good reviews.

The staff made our family trip feel special. Everyone was warm and engaging, and went out of their way to help. Our room was clean and comfortable, with soap, shampoo, and towels. After exploring the ruinas Ollantaytambo and taking the vistadome train to Aguas Calientes and back, we could open the window to the fresh mountain air and the sounds of town. Shops and restaurants are close by, and the ruinas are about a three-minute walk. The window view and the town sounds felt just right after a full day out. Sol Miranda was our base for a bucket-list Machu Picchu trip, and we left the Sacred Valley with lovely memories. It's a more authentic Peruvian stay than a gleaming city hotel, and we loved it. There are some reviews that aren't as positive, but I can't imagine what kind of pampered lives those reviewers lead. Book without hesitation, explore the region, and tip well. These are the best people.

The rooms were dusty and dirty, and missing basics like trash cans, hand towels, and hooks for wet towels. The photos make the place look better than it is. Water was shut off unpredictably every day, so I had to go downstairs and ask the front desk to turn it back on, sometimes after I’d already tried to flush. Breakfast was poor and basic: bad coffee, dry bread, ham, cheese, plain yogurt, cereal, and bananas. I can’t see how this place gets five stars unless you’re comparing it to camping. It’s a very basic hotel, and the staff seemed to have no customer service training. They mostly grunted or mumbled. I speak Spanish natively and still found it incredibly hard to communicate with them.

I’m giving this place 5/5 because the owner was so kind. I arrived three days after my booking date because I’d made a reservation mistake, but the owner still honored the paid booking even though it was my fault. I’m really grateful. My ground-floor room wasn’t noisy, despite what some others said. I did have some suggestions. The no-view ground-floor room felt a bit overpriced compared with better places I stayed in Aguascalientes and Urubamba, which had better breakfast, views, and facilities for less. For a boutique hotel, the shampoo or shower gel and towels could be better quality, and breakfast could use improvement.
