We planned one night at Casa de Oren and ended up staying four. My mother and I came after hearing great recommendations, and it went beyond what we expected. I’ve spent over a year traveling around South America, and this was easily my best stay. The place is new, thoughtfully designed, and very comfortable. Our room was cozy, the shower had hot water, and outside there were mountain views, a leafy garden full of hummingbirds, and a relaxing hot tub. Breakfast was delicious with lots of choices, and Nigel also makes excellent lunches, dinners, and cocktails. Nigel, Mabel, and Oren made us feel like part of their family. They’re warm and funny, and had great suggestions for things to do and trips nearby.

We only booked one night and wished we’d stayed longer. Each of the five beautiful guest rooms has a balcony facing the Pisac archaeological site. The gardens are lovely, and I saw my first hummingbird there. The wood-fired hot tub under the stars was especially nice on a cold night. It’s outside town, but their recommended taxi driver picked us up in Ollantaytambo and took us on to Cusco the next day. Mabel drove us to the archaeological site in the morning, then brought our luggage down that afternoon while we walked all the way into town to meet the taxi. Breakfast was an extravagant three courses, and dinner was good too. Nigel (Nacho) and Mabel were super friendly, and we had some great chats with them. They also gave us useful travel suggestions. We’ll be back one day, and I’d definitely recommend adding this to your itinerary. (Photo is view from my balcony).

Casa de Oren turned out to be a special place, even though the drive up from Pisac made it seem a little out of the way. We chose it to rest after six days of trekking, and the wood-fired hot tub was perfect for unwinding. The view was spectacular, the place felt very safe, and breakfast and supper were delicious. The hosts communicated well, replied quickly, and offered us a ride to the trailhead at the Pisac Ruins, which we really appreciated. They were kind, funny, and thoughtful. We’d love to come back!

We spent three months traveling in Latin America, and this guesthouse may have been our favorite stay. The rooms were large, clean, and comfortable, with lovely gardens, valley views, and hummingbirds everywhere. There’s a cozy shared space with a fireplace and a wood-fired hot tub. Breakfast was included and felt five star, and the dinners were delicious with vegan and vegetarian options. The hosts were delightful and had great suggestions for places away from the beaten track.

We would’ve stayed longer if we could. Casa de Oren was a wonderful place to recharge in the Sacred Valley after busy Cusco. Mabel and Nigel were some of the kindest people we met in Peru, and what they’ve created together is beautiful. The garden, views, hot tub, comfortable bed, and rides into Pisac were all great. Breakfast was amazing too. I could go on and on.
