Jamie was a fantastic guide, knowledgeable and professional. We went on a night walk and a long hike through the jungle, and had a great time exploring the habitat. The food and service were excellent, with fresh local juices and food every day, and plenty of drinking water throughout our stay. The lodge itself is beautiful, and the living quarters are what you’d expect in the middle of the jungle. Electricity is only on for a few hours each day, but you really don’t need it while you’re there, and it made the experience even better. Getting to and from the airport is a bit of an adventure. The roads in Puerto Maldonado are poor, so expect about an hour of bumps before you reach the boat. Still, the stay exceeded our expectations. It was an experience of a lifetime, and I hope to come back one day. Thank you, Tres Chimbadas!

The food was delicious, and the cold water was fine in that heat. You reach the lodge by walking about 30 minutes through the jungle from the boat on the Tambopata river. There are four bungalows with bathrooms and two beds each, plus rooms with two or three beds that don’t have their own bathroom. Set beside a lake in the jungle, it’s a spectacular place to find some peace. The lodge belongs to the Ese Eja community, whose members were welcoming, kind, and helpful. They showed us their farm, how to fish, how to gather Brazil nuts in the forest, and more. We held our yoga retreat there, and it will stay fondly in our memories.

The wildlife was amazing, and the people working there were so helpful. Such a beautiful place, with good food too. It was hard to get up and leave. I wish we’d had more time to wander around and relax. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!

A lovely mix of creature comforts and being close to nature.

The water was dirty, the hygiene was appalling, and the food was inedible. Getting there felt incredibly dangerous, and it was very, very expensive. A disaster. Don’t book! A disaster! Dirty water and terrible hygiene, with food I couldn’t eat. The journey felt incredibly dangerous, and the price was very, very high. Don’t book!
