I stopped by DoubleTree by Hilton Trujillo for a meal, without staying there, and had an excellent time. The food was delicious and carefully prepared, and the setting was comfortable and pleasant. Service was attentive without hovering. The salmon I ordered was full of flavor and cooked just right. My brother had the octopus. I’m not a shellfish person, but it was presented beautifully and clearly prepared well. Potatoes and avocado went nicely with the main dishes. Finding vegan or vegetarian food can be challenging when traveling in South America, so when that doesn’t work out, we often choose fish. This was a great choice. The dessert was the highlight: a warm brownie with vanilla ice cream under a chocolate shell that melts over it. I’ve always liked warm cake or brownies with ice cream, and this one exceeded my expectations. A very enjoyable meal, and worth visiting for the food alone.

The rooms were spotless, with excellent cleaning every day, and the food was delicious. Staff were welcoming and attentive throughout my excellent stay at the DoubleTree Hotel in Trujillo. A wonderful visit, and I’ll definitely return!

My son and I stayed here in July 2025. The rooms are spotless and very modern, and the hotel itself is beautiful. I stay at lots of Hilton properties and am Diamond for life, and this is the nicest DoubleTree I’ve ever stayed in.

Our three nights at DoubleTree Trujillo left me very disappointed, especially for a Hilton property. In Lima, we stayed one night at the Hilton Garden Inn Miraflores and were treated much better. This stay didn’t come close to that level of service. The mobile check-in and upgrade were pointless. I paid to upgrade so our family of four could be on one floor, but my wife and I ended up on the 14th floor while my two stepdaughters were on the 12th. We were also charged an extra $34.12 because one stepdaughter’s dyed hair stained a towel. That seemed unreasonable, especially as there were no signs or warnings in the room about fees like this. Hair dye transfer is standard and shouldn’t be treated as damage. The spa was closed for renovations, but the front desk agent gave us information about using it without knowing it was unavailable. That showed poor communication and coordination. My wife and stepdaughter were also not recognized as Hilton Honors or Hilton team members, and nobody explained her 50 percent team member discount. I expected that recognition and courtesy at a Hilton, but it was completely missing. Staff also seemed unprepared to communicate in English. Thankfully our family is bilingual, but it often felt like we were treated differently or discriminated against for being American, even though we are Latino/Hispanic. My wife is originally from Trujillo, Peru, but immigrated to the United States and hadn’t been back in 34 years. The discrimination still seemed apparent. For an international brand, basic bilingual service should be standard. Between that, the lack of Hilton Honors recognition, the towel charge, misinformation about amenities, and poor follow-through on our room request, this hotel didn’t meet Hilton standards. I can’t recommend DoubleTree Trujillo and hope Hilton reviews the service quality here.

The staff were outstanding, the restaurant served delicious food, and the location was convenient. Everything was on point. Can’t wait to go back!
