Wayqey Lodge

The staff are friendly and clearly try hard with the limited resources they have. The villas aren't heated, though they provide two small portable heaters each. There was no hot water unless you asked and hoped they would turn it on, and the showers didn't drain. No one speaks English. The lodge is outside town, in what used to be rural Urubamba, and the location is poor.

We only stayed one night before heading to Machu Picchu, but would like to come back for longer. It's a beautiful, peaceful place in the Urubamba Valley, and the people helping us were willing to do whatever was needed. We had wine by the fire pit at night and toasted hot dogs and marshmallows. The rooms are small bungalow apartments with everything needed to cook and stay awhile.

The bungalows are really cute, and the staff were amazing. They went well beyond what we expected to help us. People in the surrounding city were friendly too. Best vacation ever.

I've only been here three days, but it's been absolutely wonderful so far. The people really care and look after what you need, and they spoil you rotten. I've still got five more days and can't wait to see what they're like.
