Las Casitas, A Belmond Hotel, Colca Canyon

The mattresses would be my one suggestion for Belmond. They were very firm, and the beds didn’t make you want to linger. At Rio Sagrado, the mattresses were much more comfortable by comparison. Everything else made my three nights at Las Casitas in early November 2025 feel magical. The casitas were beautiful and so cozy, and the grounds and scenery were incredible. I feel lucky to have stayed there and hope to return before too long. Next time, I’d stay at least five nights just to relax and take in the views. Everyone on staff was warm, friendly, and keen to make the stay special. A special thank you to Alheli in the spa for an incredible massage and for taking time to teach me about local people and customs. Juan David was an excellent guide for our condor outing. He also rode with us to the Arequipa airport. After my friend left her coat behind, he found it and came back to the airport to return it. That was so considerate.

The place is immaculate and gorgeous, with kind, attentive staff who make you feel welcome. The location is amazing. Best hotel in chivay, maybe even in the world. Everything was perfect, and we had the best stay ever. Thank you for having us!

Diego, the concierge, helped us plan hikes and shared useful tips we wouldn’t have known otherwise. The general manager also checked in a few times to see how things were going. At the restaurant, the staff were next-level. One evening our waitress sang for us after dinner, which was such an unexpected, memorable moment. Another morning I took cereal from the buffet, and a spoon was already on my table by the time I sat down. Little details like that stay with you. Every person we met seemed to love their work and take pride in making guests feel special. That’s what made this feel like much more than a nice hotel. The quiet was just right for slowing down and recharging. No traffic or other noise, just birds and the occasional breeze. It feels tucked away from the world, in the middle of the Colca Canyon, with dramatic scenery all around. The grounds are beautiful and very well kept. We wanted somewhere to reset, and this was it. Our casita felt like its own little home, cozy and luxurious, with everything we needed. We used the fireplace every night, and there was a private hot tub with a view and an outdoor shower. Waking up to that landscape each morning felt like a gift. We ate really well. The food was fresh and full of flavor, much of it from the hotel’s organic gardens, which you can see on the property. The ingredients felt high quality, and every dish seemed thoughtfully made. The spa was another highlight. Our treatments left us relaxed, and afterward one of the therapists led a short spiritual experience. It was different, calm, and thoughtful, not cheesy. There were nice little activities too, like helping feed the alpacas and llamas in the morning. It’s optional, but fun, especially if you like animals or want to start the day differently. This is a stay that sticks with you. The setting, peaceful atmosphere, food, and service made it one of my best travel experiences. I’d go back in a heartbeat.

The fresh food was a highlight, especially since they grow their own vegetables. We loved the relaxing setting and had a lot of fun doing some of the experiences. I’d definitely recommend the horseback riding. There was also a baby llama you could feed.
