The grounds are the nicest part, with lush greenery and a beautiful, well-kept garden around the rooms. The beach and pool areas were also lovely and maintained daily. Our room was clean, comfortable, pleasant, and serviced each day. We stayed seven nights as a family of four and were satisfied for the price. It felt like good value and met our expectations. We ate dinner at the hotel and were very happy with the meals, with no problems at all. Breakfast was fine too, though the choices were mostly the same each day. Given the hotel's remote island location, we didn't expect a huge selection. We were greeted warmly and professionally when we arrived. Later, we considered booking a day trip through the activities center but decided as a group to make other plans. After that, the staff member in charge of activities seemed cold and unwelcoming, and their politeness felt forced. I'd recommend it as a budget-friendly place that delivers what you pay for, but probably wouldn't stay more than four or five nights. To see the postcard version of Bora Bora, I'd spend a few nights at a five-star resort on one of the motu islands, where the scenery really matches the fairytale pictures.

The food at the restaurant was really good, and the staff were super friendly. We had a lovely stay in October 2025, with great service and hotel amenities that covered everything we needed. Our room was big, clean, and had a nice view over the garden. The beach, pool, and rest of the hotel were all very nice. They can also help arrange all kinds of excursions and activities, including bike rental and different island or lagoon tours.

We spent 10 days here in December 2025 and loved our stay. Our first-floor room had plenty of space for two adults and a toddler, who had room to run around and chase chickens. Breakfast was tasty, with some items changing daily. There was cheese, prosciutto, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, coconut bread, pastries, and coconut cookies with chocolate chips. So good. The lunch and dinner menus were good too, especially the delicious poisson cru served in a coconut. Cocktails were decently priced. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our daughter got a Christmas present from them, and she loved it. Mauruuru roa! The beach was amazing. Since it was December and low season, we had it to ourselves every day. They also had beach toys for kids, and you could see lots of fish under the dock. The hotel is within walking distance of a supermarket and restaurants. I'd definitely recommend it if you're planning to stay on the main island.

We used the hotel as a base for excursions, and it worked well for that. There's a market nearby with good ready-made lunches, scooter rental, a few boat tours, and one or two restaurants, though there aren't many options on the island generally. We didn't book tours through the hotel, but our snorkel company picked us up there. The scooter rental place met us down the road at Mai Tai. It was interesting to explore the nearby closed Sofitel. Kayaks are available for a fee, even for guests, but they won't rent them when it's windy. This side of the island tends to be windier and rainier. The beach is small, a little crowded, and not great for swimming or snorkeling. The rooms are across the road from it, all facing the garden, and aren't the most comfortable. We had a cockroach in our room the whole stay. We didn't want to spend the day at the hotel, which was unfortunate when a rainstorm came through, so we had to find dry-ish things to do. We went out on a scooter, and the snorkel boat still ran. Most of the staff were pretty friendly, and the restaurant was decent. Our three nights worked for getting to excursions, but for a similar price we'd have preferred a rental house or a nicer hotel. If you want somewhere peaceful and relaxing to spend the day, I'd pay more for one of the better hotels or resorts.

The garden is beautiful, but it also brings plenty of insects. There were mosquitoes, centipedes, and spiders in our room, and I was bitten several times. Because I have an allergy, my skin got very swollen and itchy, so I eventually had to buy repellent. For that reason, I personally wouldn't choose a garden-view room, and I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone with mosquito allergies or a strong dislike of bugs. I stayed at Royal Bora Bora for two nights. Our room was across the road from the main area, which was inconvenient, and the bathroom had a strong sewage smell after use. There's a small private beach out front, but we chose to walk about 10 minutes to Maitra Beach to swim, relax, and watch the sunset. It was definitely worth it. There are local restaurants along the way where we had delicious food for much less than at the hotel. The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Vaitape. I took the shuttle for 1,750 XPF per person, but honestly, a taxi would have been cheaper. Early check-in wasn't available, though we could leave our bags in a storage room near the lobby. Breakfast was decent and the hotel offers fair value overall, but it feels a bit overpriced for tourists.
